Today was another AmaZing day at @mercedes-benz fashion week! You can see us starting out our day in front of our upper westside apt we rented. AIRBNB is awesome when looking for cool apts to rent while in NY. We then walked to this crepe place in the neighborhood our apartment is in called @crepes. We knew were going to hit the shows hard so we went ahead ate before we hit the tents for the day.
Our first show was Jenny Packham. She is a british designer who is known for her ethereal red carpet looks and contemporary bridal gowns. Her show was painted in chalky pastels which highlighted the glowy early 70’s feel of her line. She had gorgeous layered baby doll frocks, ruffled drop waisted beauties and vintage inspired long gowns made out of silk crepe that draped beautiful on the models. Her show really incited a true return to innocence with the soft combed out curls adding an old world flavor. The mood was pure girly girl even down to the ruffled flower clutches the models held while floating down the runway. Experiencing this was absolute heaven and left me with a renewed sense of appreciation of true feminine beauty! She makes women look soft and beautiful, which is refreshing after all the minimal harsh trends we have had lately.
The next show we went to was Naeem Khan. This show was just breathtaking! The looks took embroidery to an entire new level! The detail in each look was so intricate and meticulously designed. From gorgeous kaftans to insanely beaded statement dresses, Naeem kept it feminine and soft as well. His designs make every type of women look perfect! This show was also very rich in color and fabrication. The models hair was all braided up to give it that ethnic but sophisticated feel to polish off the looks so perfectly.
We took a break in the lounge where Robert Verdi spotted me in my vintage inspired, ISSA frock and took a picture of me. I then reminded him that we had done a “Fashion Team ” vintage shopping segment for TV Guide Channel when I lived in LA. He totally remembered, so that was kinda cool!
After our break, we actually went back to our apt to change and freshen up because it was extremely humid and hot. I changed into my vintage kimono and threw on my Jason Woo black pants and Splendid top I had gotten both from Clothes Circuit for fashion week. I added a feather turban, Stella Thomas designed and we were off hailing another taxi to take us back to the tents.
Our last show of the day was Zang Toi. He is a very accomplished and established couture designer. His show was packed completely, there was not an inch of space left to fill in. As soon as I got to my seat, I noticed alot of Bravo Housewives on the front row. It was cool to see them without all the cameras, Romona(TRHONY) ran up and kissed Neal Schon of the band Journey! She seems as spunky in real life as she is on the show! But I digress, lets get back to the good stuff! Zang’s show opened up with this amazing ballet dancer. I have the video below! It set the tone immediately and surprised us at the same time. I really enjoyed the performance because it was so beautifully executed! His show was painted in tones of black, navy and baby blue. It was all so sophisticated yet elegant. He also had ruffles, tulle and fabric flowers that illustrated and emphasized the strong feminine trend for Spring 2014. At the end of his show, he received an immediate standing ovation! It was such an incredible show!
We were going to attend a blogger afterparty, but we were hungry and tired and made the better choice of coming back to our apt and eating some amazing italian food in the neighborhood. It was so tasty and hit the spot!
It was another bucket list day attending these amazing shows and being so inspired! Now time to get some much needed beauty sleep because tomorrow is a BIG day too!
Thank you to Paige Anderson for fighting for great space in the photography pit and taking such beautiful pictures! What cant you do, woman?
