What another totally fabulous day! We covered 5 shows in less than 8 hours. Whew!
Our first show was Douglas Hannant. His show was extremely refined and minimal, reminding me of a return to the Gwyneth Paltrow early 90’s look. His fabrics were rich and luxurious, I guess that is where he gets his nickname, “Park Avenue Prince.” I loved seeing his clients sit front row, representing his line by wearing Douglas Hannant head to toe. He knows how to make a women look beautiful, yet powerful at the same time. What a delight it was yo enjoy this show with Jimmy Wood, one of my dear friends from home too! He is great friends with Douglas as well, love when it works out like that.
Next up we rushed back over to the tents to catch the Rachel Zoe show. There was no standing room in the studio! Packed to the walls with fashionistas, celebs and trendsetters. Her collection did not disappoint! It was 70’s soul gypsy rock with a very modern edge! So relatable but so california cool. I personally loved the chambray pantsuit and zig zag kaftan! Once again she proves she understands and knows how to dress the american modern chic woman.
We ran to the next show, Milly. I love Milly from way back in the day. Her show was like stepping into the 50’s but with a more sensual feel. Alot of her fabrics were sheer and cut out so it was a 50’s peep show feel. I loved the ladylike silhouettes that flatter but I am not a fan of wearing your bra in public or showing your underwear. I know this is a trend, but I much more prefer the mystery of more clothing;). I loved the brights mixed wth black and white.
Betsey Johnson was up next. Ok all I can say is “WOW!” What a show, that woman knows how to throw a party! It was super 50’s rockabilly with leopard print full circle dresses, poplin crop tops and skinny capris for all! All the models had candy cotton pink hair and she had the most fabulous pink tulle full circle dress I have ever seen. Lots of celebs in the front row, including my past client Paris Hilton. The finale was amazing the models dancing around waving american flags since the ahow was on 9/11. It really gave me chill bumps. And of course Betsey doing the splits with her granddaughters was just the icing on the cake.
The last show we went to was Anna Sui. It was a full on 60’s Renaissance fair for this show. right down to the music! i loved all the vintage patterns and colors that she created for her line. mother earth tones of lavender, blues and browns. She had the models come down coupled in their looks. The ruffles, triangle sleeve dresses and the butterflies were all the things that make this age of aquarius fashionista smile!
Whew…what a day! Now to packing and coming back home to put together my Good Morning Texas Segments from all this amazing content!
Before leaving Paige took one more pick of me in my casual look. It was so hot so I had to rethink the ensemble. But I threw my hair up in a bun, put on my striped dress and army jacket from Clothes Circuit and out the door I went!
Once again, Paige was amazing in the “pit” taking pictures with a million other international photographers! Thank you www.paigeanderson.net.
Off to call the cab and get on a plane back to wide open spaces. I love love NY, but there aint no place like HOME, especially if your home is TEXAS!
